Jennifer Leigh, founder of O2 salon, has been in the beauty business for 22 years.
“My philosophy on working with hair is simple,” says Jennifer. “If you embrace the nature of the hair and work with it, you will not be fighting your hair’s natural flow, and you will look better more of the time.
“I have curly hair myself, and grew up hating it. At 26, I gave in and let it have its way. Letting my hair guide me to cuts that work means less work and more good hair days. “
Working with that philosophy as a foundation, Jennifer creates a style that accentuates positive features and fits the client’s lifestyle.
Color is her favorite service. “I love to use highlights to accentuate a style, a facial feature, or for fun,” says Jennifer. “With color and style working together, the look can be the fullest reflection of my client’s personality.”
Jennifer trained in Portland, also studied at Vidal Sassoon Academy in London. She’s also been an educator for Framesi in New England. Prior to opening her own shop in 1999, Jennifer worked for many of Portland’s leading salons.
In 1994, Jennifer enrolled at Maine College of Art, and graduated four years later with a degree in furniture design.
“I finished school, but went back to hair styling. The study of art may not have led me to a new career, but I believe my studies helped me fine-tune my aesthetic eye,” she says.
