A  few of my favorite things

In the shop...Absorbing as much as possible...Learning new techniques...Natural foil placements...Making sure people enjoy being in my chair...Making people laugh and feel beautiful...

Outside the shop..."City" life...My cats (Big Papi and Beckett)...Eating out (especially Greek food)...Going to the beach..."Meant to be" shopping trips...Playing "Maine Tourist"...Heated political debates...Red Sox games...And a good extra dirty martini...

Colleen Griffin, who has been in the health and beauty industry since 2004, and has recently completed her apprenticeship under Jenn at O2.

Colleen always has had a passion for hair. "It all started as a little girl,” she says. “I couldn't have had more than 10 hairs on my head and my great grandmother showed me how to put plastic rollers in my hair."  The fascination blossomed as she grew, and she was always the one doing hair and makeup on her friends, whether for school dances or for fun.

Colleen previously studied History Education and Classical Studies at St. Rose College in New York and University of Southern Maine. She also studied abroad in Greece and Turkey.

"Beauty, I believe, is rooted in ancient Greek culture,” she says.  “There is nothing more beautiful than the classic, obsessive detail of a Greek statue, or the bold presence of an ancient Greek temple."

She brings this aesthetic approach to her work at O2.  "Every woman - and man for that matter - should feel beautiful in their own skin.  Any way that I can make that possible is more than an honor to me."
